The Village Institute is available for private parties, social gatherings, educational classes, community activities and public meetings. The venue currently hosts regular classes in Calligraphy, Painting, Crafts, Zumba, Yoga, Boxercise and as well as activities for babies, toddlers and children. For more information about classes available, please see the What’s On timetable link below and contact the individual class organiser for their class charges.

Parties and other occasional bookings: These can be booked online via the app above. The app will allow you select dates and times that are currently available. The booking will be shown as provisional until it has been reviewed and confirmed by the Clerk.

Parking and Accessibility: The facility benefits from on site parking at the rear of the building, has a ramped access to the front door and emergency exits.

Charges: The standard hire charge is £15.00 per hour.  Use of the kitchen is free. Registered Charities, non-profit making Community Groups and regular users may receive discounted rates.

What’s On in The Village Institute

If you are interested in joining any of these groups you should contact them directly *Please note you cannot book these groups using our app. 

The Clerk to the Trustees for the Village Institute can be reached on 07384 977412 (call weekdays 9am – 5pm please). You can also email on VICC@Crigglestonepc.org. Please note that the venue is a charity and the Clerk works a small number of hours per week. If there is no answer straight away we will come back to you as soon as possible.

General Letting Policy

  1. The facility is available for letting 7 days per week, excluding Bank Holidays.
  2. The facility does not have a Licence for alcohol.
  3. Children’s parties are permitted but noise must be monitored by the adults present.
  4. Bouncy castles are not allowed in the Village Institute.
  5. The Village Institute cannot be hired for political public meetings.
  6. The facility must be booked in advance. A completed online booking and £10 deposit secures the venue, the balance should preferably be paid at time of booking but not less than 7 days before the function commences.
  7. The deposit will not be refunded unless adequate notice is given to cancel the booking. This means wherever possible 7 days but this will depend on personal circumstances.
  8. The hourly rate for use of the facility is £15.00, you are allowed 15 minutes free of charge either side of your slot, to set up and clear away.
  9. The use of the kitchen facility is free.
  10. Bookings must be for a minimum of 1 hour, thereafter to the next ½ hour.
  11. A booking should be completed via the Crigglestone Parish Council website.
  12. The person booking the facility (or a responsible adult who will be in attendance during the function) should familiarise themselves with the fire exits, and the instructions on the fire extinguishers.
  13. Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
  14. The Village Institute Trustees ask that all users leave the hall in good, clean order, ensuring that all windows and doors are closed, chairs and tables stacked away, lights turned off and the kitchen’s electrical /gas appliances are switched off.
  15. Any damage or breakages will be charged to the person who made the booking for use of the facility.
  16. The First Aid Box and Accident Book is on a shelf, in the corridor near the kitchen entrance.
